SEPTEMBER 2011
Sale of UK Grid to Telecity Group PLC & formation of London Data Exchange Ltd.
London Data Exchange was formed following the successful sale of Manchester based UK Grid Group Ltd to Telecity Group PLC in September 2011.
NOVEMBER 2011
London Data Exchange Ltd commenced operations.
The board of directors had a clear vision that they wanted to create a national datacentre operator which had an acute focus on delivering superior colocation services to clients operating in the UK and internationally. The company tailored its core offering around operational excellence and customer service. As a datacentre and network connectivity provider, LDeX Group has gone from strength to strength in offering best in class colocation facilities in London since operations began in 2012 with the opening of a new carrier neutral datacentre situated six miles from the city centre on Staples Corner, North West London.
2012 & 2013
Acquisition of Ping Networks Ltd. and launch of LDeX Group.
Since then, the company has expanded its colocation offering with the acquisition of Ping Networks, a successful managed communications services provider, enhancing it’s connectivity offering. This resulted in London Data Exchange being relaunched as LDeX Group. Ping Networks changes its name to LDeX Connect Ltd.
2013 & 2014
Increased number of carriers, Internet exchange points and customers at the LDeX1 site.
Since then, the company has expanded its colocation offering with the acquisition of Ping Networks, a successful managed communications services provider, enhancing it’s connectivity offering. This resulted in London Data Exchange being relaunched as LDeX Group. Ping Networks changes its name to LDeX Connect Ltd.
2015
Extension of the LDeX Group national portfolio with the launch of a new datacentre in Manchester.
In 2015, LDeX Group has extended its national portfolio with the launch of its new carrier neutral datacentre in Manchester offering best in class colocation, network connectivity and streaming media satellite services to the Manchester and North West market. The company offer premium enterprise grade colocation facilities and ultra-fast low latency connectivity to customers through top tier carriers and internet service providers.
2016
LDeX adds to its extensive list of carriers and ISP’s available in its data centres and the
introduction of its Hybrid Multicast Streaming Platform.
In 2016, LDeX saw the addition of several new carriers to its LDeX2 Manchester data centre. These included euNetworks and Cogent Communications providing further choice and network reach for our customers and bolstering our cloud connect proposition to AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. LDeX also introduced its multicast streaming service enabling channel capture and MPEG2ts streaming capabilities to the LDeX portfolio of services. Our VM proposition was also launched for our streaming and media customers.
2017
LDeX expands its data centre footprint in Manchester due to high demand.
In 2017, LDeX expands its foot print in Manchester with the addition of a further 10,000sqft of data centre estate and 1.5MVA of power. This expansion was due to high demand in this geographical area from our customers. LDeX1 saw an increase in its satellite services with the addition of new satellites increasing our European, North Africa and Middle Eastern channel acquisition capabilities.
