Manchester, 21st March 2013: Ping Networks, a UK telecommunications and managed network solutions provider, has today announced that it has completed a major extension to its UK network through the roll out of an ultra-low latency and resilient multi 10Gig network into all of Telecity Manchester data centres. The network extension builds on the wide connectivity options already available in Manchester, further enabling high bandwidth and resilient connectivity into London and beyond.
Ping Networks provides connectivity and network solutions across its UK network. This expansion means that customers in any of Manchester’s primary data centre facilities – including Telecity’s new Joule House facility next to MediaCity – can now access Ping Networks’ MPLS, IP Transit, Layer 2 services and data centre interconnects within Manchester and back to London at up to 10Gbps capacity per link.
The company states that the continued growth of the digital economy in Manchester means they are seeing a continued increase in demand for enterprise-grade, high performance network services in the region.
Simon Chaimberlain, Managing Director at Ping Networks commented: “Manchester data centres are thriving ecosystems that give us the opportunity to provide value-added services to a really wide variety of customers, as well as interconnect with hundreds of other carriers. Having a presence in several of the region’s leading data centre facilities gives us the opportunity to provide services to a wide cross-section of the companies that make-up Manchester’s thriving business and technology economies.”
“As a highly-connected city with significant geographical separation from London, customers are increasingly looking to locate infrastructure in both London and Manchester as part of disaster recovery strategy. With an existing high capacity network portfolio in London, Ping Networks can now offer completely diverse high capacity links between major data centres in both Cities.”
The move is part of Ping Networks’ wider expansion programme designed to capitalise on the growing demand for customers to expand their network requirements into and across Europe. The company is also looking to move into other thriving European digital hubs including Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Dublin.

Connection to World’s Leading IXP Enhances Ping Networks Reach and Performance in Europe
LONDON, 3rd January 2013 — Ping Networks have announced today that it has expanded its network reach and performance throughout Europe by connecting to AMS-IX, one of the largest Internet exchanges in the world located in Amsterdam.
Simon Chamberlain, Managing Director at Ping Networks comments;
“In 2012 we announced the beginnings of a major PoP expansion program for Ping which is currently being executed. As well as establishing a PoP in every major data centre in the UK we’re now pushing further into Europe to meet the increasing demands of our international client base and our UK clients that need to deliver their content and data around Europe and beyond.
“This new peering relationship with AMS-IX enables Ping Networks to interconnect directly with multiple and major European IP networks and accelerate our Internet performance around Europe.”
The connection to AMS-IX enables Ping Networks to peer with over 500 networks within the AMS-IX community, which includes Internet Service Providers (ISPs), cloud providers, hosting companies, content providers and telecommunications carriers.
Chamberlain continues;
“As data volumes grow exponentially there is increased pressure on network providers to deliver increased performance as well as reliability. We’re seeing more and more demand from the likes of content and media providers and international finance institutions who have vast amounts of data that needs to be delivered anywhere and everywhere, fast. Peering at Internet Exchange Points such as AMS-IX and peering with other leading network providers with the common goal of delivering network traffic as quickly and reliably as possible is the best way of ensuring we stay ahead of this incredibly steep curve.”
The connection to AMS-IX is Pings third additional primary Internet Exchange point in Europe during the last 3 months having also recently established peering presence at LINX (London Internet Exchange) in London and the recently launched IX-Manchester.

Ping Networks are pleased to announce that we have upgraded our network capacity between two of the best connected sites in the UK, Telehouse North and Level(3) Goswell Road, with dark fibre giving us 10Gbps of network capacity with scope to increase this to 100Gbps
Utilising best of breed Juniper kit to hand off to customers in both locations we are now able to deliver much higher capacity and low latency IP Transit and layer 2 connectivity between the two sites. Clients can also connect between the sites diversely over a completely diverse THN <> LDeX1 <> Goswell Road leg which also offers capacity up to 10Gbps, providing a complete high capacity network ring.
From any of these sites, clients are able to join our diverse 10Gbps London to Manchester network which terminates in and connects all of the Telecity Manchester sites, including the new Joules House data centre, where we are now delivering our full range of network services including IP Transit, Layer 2 and MPLS solutions.
This is an important step forward in Ping’s network expansion program which continues to increase capacity within and between all leading data centres in the UK to meet the demand of our client base.

Ping Networks Ltd has today announced details of its latest substantial investment into a continued UK wide network reach and capacity expansion program, provisioning an ultralow latency 10Gig resilient ring around the Telecity digital hubs in Manchester.
Following these new deployments Ping Networks can now offer MPLS, IP Transit, Layer 2 services and data centre interconnects within Manchester and back to London at up to 10Gbps capacity per link, utilising Juniper network equipment, Ping’s chosen preferred supplier for high capacity circuits. Such deployments will be from within private rack space at Telecity Williams, Synergy House, Reynolds House and the new Joules House data centre facility.
The company’s network roll out program gives Ping Networks considerable capacity in this network dense and consistently growing digital arena. Such capacity enables providers form all sectors to benefit from the Ping Network, reducing costs and enhancing profitability and performance according to the company.
Simon Chamberlain, Ping Networks MD comments:
“Partnering with Telecity Group is fantastic news for us. This is phase 1 of our Manchester network roll out program and we have plans to increase network capacity to 100Gbps in the future. The increasingly strong demand drivers behind high capacity, low latency network requirements in Manchester, particularly with the birth of MediaCityUK, meant that this investment was an absolute necessity for us as we continue to deliver increasingly demanding network solutions to our core vertical markets: Content, Digital Media & Distribution, Cloud Enabled Enterprise, Financial Services, Managed Services Providers and Network providers.”
Ping Networks are also executing on a European capacity and roll out strategy to extend the Ping Network to Dublin and Amsterdam, again driven by customer demand.
